The Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, will return to Dunedin from Oamaru on Thursday. The president, Mr H. G. Munro, referred at last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union to the deaths of Mr T. W. Lynch, of Alexandra, a former All Black, and Mr H. Barnes, a former Otago representative player. Motions of sympathy were passed. Cr R. L. Mac Alister, deputy mayor of Wellington for the past three years, has acceded to the request of a deputation that he be a candidate for the mayoralty at this year’s local body elections.
Sister Anna Kirkwood will leave Dunedin today to attend the annual meeting of Te Hinota Maori, the Maori Synod of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. She has been appointed to write a biography of the veteran missionary in the Maori field, Sister Annie Henry.
