CAPPING PROCESSION
Tomorrow’s Arrangements Arrangements are practically completed for tomorrow’s Capping Procession which to many people is the outstanding event of Capping Week. The procession will assemble at the University about 11.15 tomorrow morning and should reach the Octagon about 12.15. There will be a “mayoral address from the Town Hall at 1 o’clock. „ The Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, who is out of town, has sent a message to the students expressing his best wishes for their Capping festivities. The collection on Wednesday,” he stated, “is for- a very worthy object—the Tuberculosis Association —and as a member of that body I know something of the great need for its work and of the splendid service it is rendering in this community and adjacent centres. I commend the Capping Day appeal to all citizens,” Sir Donald stated, “ and I express our thanks to the students for assisting these worthy causes in our midst.” More than 80 students visited the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium yesterday to entertain the patients. The Capping brass and pipe bands were both present and a large number of the students taking part in the Capping concert gave portions of their popular entertainment. Arrangements were made for as many patients as possible to see the entertainment and those who could not be present heard it through amplifiers.
