RIFLE SHOOTING
SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING PA INVERCARGILL. Dec. 28. Consistently good shooting in shocking conditions by C. Thom, Christchurch, was one of the few bright patches during the second day of the South Island rifle shooting championships at Otatara yesterday. At the beginning of the last round Thom and R. B. Wood. Invercargill, were level W Thom won the South Island championship belt with a score of 371 and Wood was runner-up. After a shoot-off with Thom, Woou won the C. Smith Cup for short-range Sh W. tl ßf Milne won the Stewart Dawson Cup and S. H. McDonald the iyro C The Watkinson Challenge Shield, for five-man teams, was won by the Gore Rifle Club’s A team.
