DANGER OF REVOLUTION
Warning From Nigeria People Seek Independence NZP A—Copyright Rec. 11 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 28. Unless Britain granted Nigeria independence, there was a danger of a revolution, said Namdi Azikiwe today. Azikiwe, who is President of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, said the patience of Nigeria’s 30,000,000 people was near breaking point. It might be difficult for the national leaders to control extremists and prevent a revolt. He said: “The whole country is like a tinderbox. It requires only one spartk to start a flare-up.” Azikiwe added, however: “There is no need for my people and Britain to tread the same road to bloodshed and violence as in India, Burma and Malaya. If Britain is prepared to modify her attitude towards our nationalist aspirations, there is no reason why we should not be prepared to modify our demands.”
