ACCENT ON DOLLARS
DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA’S PROGRAMME NZPA—Copyright SYDNEY, Dec. 27. Mr R. G. Casey, Federal Minister of Supply and Development, said today that the new Department of National Development would. encourage American industries to build factories in Australia and would also find ways to boost Australia’s dollar earnings. He added that Americans would be encouraged to invest in Australia’s future by the expansion of Australia’s productive resources. Australia must earn more dollars to buy capital machinery and goods needed for development projects. Mr Casey is spending the Christmas and New Year period planning the new department, which is expected to be in full operation before Easter.
