MONTH’S GAOL
TRESPASSING IN GROUNDS Found without lawful excuse in the enclosed grounds of the Wakari Secondary Hospital on Monday night Bernard Cleveland, aged .45, a moulder, appeared in the Magistrate s Court yesterday morning before Mr G. Stratton and G. Kitchen, justices of the peace. Senior Sergeant B. W. Wootton, said the police were called to the hospital at 11 p.m. on Monday, Cleveland was then in the custody of an attendant. He had consumed some liquor, but was not drunk. He could offer no excuse for being in ‘the grounds. A nurse had heard the door bell ring, but found no one there. She rang the police while an attendant searched the* grounds. Cleveland had a formidable list of convictions. Cleveland, who was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labour, told the court he was sorry he had gone into the grounds.
