Gardiner, Canadian Agriculture Minister, today announced a 10 per cent, reduction in the Canadian floor price of bacon shipped to Britain. The Meat Board would be authorised to pay 32 dollars 50 cents per 1001 b of bacon delivered at the Canadian seaboard for shipment to Britain (the price during 1949 had ben 36 dollars) Mr Gardiner said some details of the bacon shipment had not yet been settled, but the contract would be for about the same amount of bacon as Britain received in 1940. He assured Canadian cheese producers, however, that the contract would mature and would absorb all the expected cheese surplus in 1950.
