SOVIET OPPOSITION TO AN EFFECTIVE DISARMAMENT PLAN
NZPA—Copyright Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORR, Oct. 15. The United States told the Security Council that Russia was completely opposed to any real plan of effective disarmament. Mr ‘ Warren Austin, chief United States delegate, said the Soviet delegates in all arms talks “ have endeavoured to obscure the true Soviet policy, which is one of complete opposition to any real plan of effective disarmament.”
Mr Austin was joined by the delegates of France, Canada, China. Norway and Cuba in criticising the Soviet proposal that United Nations members supply information of the state of their armed forces and armaments, especially the atom bomb. They said the Soviet proposals would be meaningless without an inspection and verification of the figures.
