TIVOLI REVUE
Fast-paced Vaudeville
•' Command Performance,” a bright and fast-paced vaudeville offering, was presented at the Opera House last night, before a large and delighted audience and will be repeated at a matinee to-day and again to-night. Ivor Morton and- Pave Kaye need no introduction to most people—their records and radio appearances have made them firm favourites. On stage, however, their duo piano work is even better —every number, however superficial, a minor, miracle of timing and technique. Their dash of comedy adds to the illusion of simplicity which their precision playing tends to give. Scarcely less popular than Moreton and Kaye was the comedian, Mauriece Colleano and his family helpers. Mr Colleano provides a polished pattern of pranks which may not, in their essential, be so new, but have seldom been better done. To music and mirth was added the acrobatic agility of Krista and Kristel —two daring young maids on a flying trapeze—and the distinguished dancing of the Ganjou Brothers and Juanita. Presented in a pleasant little scena, this act also accentuated a * deceptive simplicity. Behind these headliners was a hardworking company. Joey Porter was a comedian without pretension but with humour; Margaret Fitzgibbon and Betty Linke were those rarities of show business—soubrettes who could really sing; Tod Hilton demonstrated a sturdy baritone; the Hartnells had a particularly fast-paced dance routine; Jean Rai, the other Colleanos, Elsie Bower and the busy ballet were staunch support. The show was keyed to the brisk beat of Len James and his orchestra.
