SCOUT ACTIVITIES
Visit To Otekaike Troop A large bus load of Scouts representing seven troops and district headquarters visited tl)e Otekaike Special School last Saturday. An inspection of the school and its environs was made before lunch, and during the afternoon Commissioner W. H. S Widdowson inspected the Scout troop and Cub pack of the school. After a display by the group, a keenly-contested game of king pin between the Oamaru and school Scouts was won by the entertainers. At the conclusion of the programme a warrant was presented to Assistant Scoutmaster W. I. Middleton. • Arrangements are well in hand for the Scout day at Broad Leaf to-day. Eight entries from patrol leaders have been received for the Sandford ticket course at the Whare Flat camp site on October 28, 29, and 30. District Scoutmaster Kinder will visit Whare Flat at the Labour weekend to make final arrangements for the district camp at the end of the year. As Friday, October 21, will be a school holiday, the commissioner requests that troops should endeavour to make camp as early as possible, preferably on Friday morning Troop camp sites are: Highland and Sea Scouts, Broad Leaf; Enfield and Windsor, Walanakarua; Weston, at Weston; St Luke’s and St, Paul’s, Teschemakers; Maheno, at Maheno. The Waitaki Troop will hold a camp during a week-end later in the term.
