Sir, —I was never an ardent admirer oi the late Mr Savage, but he came from the Ned Kelly country and would tol- \ erate no dictation from the Labour Party conferences His successor, Mr Fraser, has proved himself, quite unfit for leadership. Now his weakness is to cost the taxpayers thousands of pounds for a referendum that is quite unnecessary, and it is obvious that, if the majority vote is in favour of conscription, Mr Fraser intends to hail it as a great personal triumph, He will never recover from the strain of his recent somersault—l am, etc., Awake.
