FOOT CROSSINGS
ATTENTION BY TRAFFIC OFFICERS OBSERVANCE OF RULES Particular attention will be paid in future by the City Transport Department’s traffic officers to pedestrian crossings. An instruction to this effect has been given to the chief traffic inspector, Mr E. H. Barrett, by the General Committee of the City Council. The instruction, which was given at the request of the Government Transport Department, is designed to improve the observance of the laws relating to pedestrian crossings and their supervision, and to improve the knowledge of the citizens of the effect of the regulations, so as to bring about the correct use of the crossings. The traffic officers have also been instructed to take sterner measures in the enforcement of the regulations in respect to glaring headlights, and to prosecute in cases of failure to dip headlights.
