NURSES’ CHRISTIAN UNION The monthly meeting of the Scattered Nurses' Christian Union was held at Mrs Given’s residence, Arrowtown. Two cars brought members from Queenstown, and there was practically a full attendance of members. Mrs Ingles presided. The Arrowtown members led the group in study and gave the story behind the composition of the hymn “Abide With Me.” ANNUAL BALL The Wakatlpu Collie Club held its annual ball in the Athenseum Hall, Arrowtown, on Friday evening. Prior to the supper adjournment Mr G. Wardell, president of the club, presented the trophies. McNamara’s Family Band supplied the music and Mr A. Morris was the MC. PERSONAL Staff Nurse J. Chalmers, of Arrowtown, who has completed her general training at Gore Public Hospital, leaves for Tauranga. Bay of Plenty, on Thursday, where she will take her maternity training. Nurse Chalmers will accompany Mrs I. Geer, who is to spend the winter months with her daughter, Mrs R. Swanger, at Tauranga. Mrs A. M. McLean, of Arrowtown, was the only applicant for the position of assistant mistress in the Arrowtown School. Coming-of-age parties held during the week were those of Messrs John Dennison and V. G. Hansen.
