HYPNOTIST DELIGHTS CROWD
GREAT FRANQUIN’S THIRD APPEARANCE The hypnotist, “ The Great Franquin ” proved himself to be one of the most popular entertainers ever to visit Dunedin, when he gave a special performance before an audience which packed the main Town Hall to capacity last night. After a noteworthy feat of memory he delighted the crowd with experiments in mesmerism and hypnosis on a group of about 50 willing subjects, of whom the most suitable were taken unknown to themselves on tcur through the zoo and a fun-fair. One of the subjects earned a great deal of applause when he imitated Kate Smith, Richard Crooks and Paul Robeson, reaching the high soprano and low bass registers with professional ease. After waking from their trances the subjects each told the audience how refreshed they felt.
