INCREASED WAGES
METAL TRADES EMPLOYEES The wages clauses in the New Zealand metal trades employees’ award have been amended in accordance with the recent pronouncement of the Arbitration Court. The new rates represent an increase of 4d an hour for tradesmen and 3Jd an hour for other male workers, except boys and youths. There is a 10 per cent, increase in the wages of all junior workers. The order is to come into force on June 1.
