No Anzac Day Parade

It was reported by Scouter S. Kinder at the meeting of the North Otago Boy Scouts executive on Wednesday night that in reply to a letter received from the Oamaru RSA inviting Scouts to parade on Anzac Day, troop scouters had decided to recommend that only the wreath-bearers be asked to parade. Scouter Kinder added that the majority of the boys would be attending a service earlier in the day, and a further parade and service may ten4„to lessen the effect and meaning of the day. Mr W. J. C. Daniel was in the chair. A letter was received from the secretary, Mr H. P. Kent, tendering his resignation. It was decided to write to Mr Kent thanking him for his services during the past years. Mr W. C. Richards was appointed to fiil the vacancy. In reply to a letter sent to Cub packs by Commissioner W. H. S. Widclowson, asking that packs make every endeav. into attend outings over Easter, group delegates stated that an effort was being made for Cubs to visit troops in camp on Easter Sunday. The question of forming a County Scout Council in North Otago was again discussed and it was decided to wait until further information had been received from Dominion Headquarters. The camp site at Maruakoa was also discussed and referred to the Building Committee. Commissioner Widdowson reported that a record number of troops would be m camp in North Otago this Easter. He also referred to the vacancies for officers sn troops and stated that it was the responsibility of the committees of the groups to find’officers for their troops and packs when vacancies had been caused. Mr Daniel reported on ilie South Island Lay Workers' Conference in Dunedin, and several of the remits brought up at the conference were discussed by the executive.
