Allocation of Playing Areas

A request was received at a meeting of the North Otago Sports Bodies’ Association on Wednesday night from the Oamaru Borough Council asking that plans and specifications on the type of building required at reserve C as dressing sheds be supplied. The matter was left to the incoming executive. Mr W. M. Uttley was in the chair, and there were also present Messrs J. Firman, S. Ashton, R. Hector A. N. Davidson, W. R. Laney, E. Coker, and E. V. Wright. It was decided to recommend to the Oamaru Borough Council that the following allocations of grounds be made for winter sports;—Takaro Park: Rugby Union, Tuesday and Thursday nights; Association football, Saturdays and holidays-. Orann Park; Women’s hockey. King George’s Park; Men’s hockey. The applications of tlie Association Football Club and Men's Hockey Association for an allocation of grounds on reserve C for Saturday sports and the application of the South School Committee for the use of reserve C on week days for football were approved subject to conditions laid down by the chairman of reserves, Cr B. Steven. It was decided to ask the Oamaru Borough Council for a duplicate plan of reserve c so that areas could be allocated to the various sports. A recommendation was passed that one representative of the association confer with the superintendent of reserves Mr I. Tait. on each Saturday after rain to ascertain whether the various playing areas were in playing condition
