Boxing Association

Mr L. Webb was in the chair at a recent meeting of the Oamaru Amateur Boxing Association when it was decided to transfer the association's gymnasium from Foster's Bakery to Messrs Darling and McDowell’s premises at the rear of the badminton hall. It was further decided to write thanking Mr McDowell for renting the premises to the association. The Waimate Association advised that a trophy had been presented in memory of the late L. Prue, and it was decided to suggest to a combined meeting of the Ashburton. Timaru, Temuka. Waimate, and Oamaru Associations that an annual tournament between the associations be held and the trophv awarded to the association with the highest number of points. Messrs S. Ashton and J. Dooley were appointed the association’s representatives to the annual meeting of the Sports Bodies’ Association, and the following sub-committees were elected:—Matchmaker, Mr L. Webb; Advertising—Messrs J. Henderson, T. Young, J. Fai-quhar, official scribe, Mr D. Sparks; Referees— Messrs T. Nightingale. L. Webb. H. Kerr; judges—Messrs S. Ashton, D. Richardson, M. Hunter, J. Farquhar. It was agreed that members be given the privilege of reserving seats in any part of the Opera House free of charge and that in the event of any tournaments being held in the gymnasium, members only be admitted. The date for the first tournament of the season was held over until the next meeting.
