Unplaced in only three of her ten starts to date, Eireann, a member of the famous Eulogy family, won her way out of hack class with a good win in the Alan Good Memorial at the Opunake meeting at Hawera last Saturday. Eireann had one start last season as a two-year-old, running unplaced. She began the present term promisingly with a second and a third, but it was not until four starts later that she recorded net- first success. Her next four starts resulted in two more wins and a fourth. By Te Hero, Eireann is the first foal of Mahaina, a useful galloper in the Taranaki district in recent years. Mahaina is by Posterity from Burnish, the dam of the ill-fated Burnished Ring and Shining Ring, by Pombal from Episode, by Limond from Homage, by Absurd from Eulogy.
