EFFORTS OF RATEPAYERS '* The high priortiy project in the district —the widening of Middleton road—has now been started,” said Mr R. J. Calvert, president of the Kew Ratepayers s and Householders' Association, at the annual meeting last night. “ This road is fast becoming a main route and when completed should be of great benefit to the district.” he added. Mr Calvert outlined the executive’s endeavours to obtain an improved trans-
port service in the district, and it was decided that, he accompanied by the secretary, Mr N. M. Knox, should represent the association at the public hearing on bus fare increases. The election of office-bearers resulted: President, Mr G. Claridge; vice-presi-dent, Mr R. Stroud; secretary, Mr N. M. Knox: assistant secretary, Mr F. H. Dickson; treasurer, Mr L. X. Carter; auditor, Mr J. M. Sidney; committee—the Rev. Mr Chisholm, Messrs R. A. Douglas, E. Sinclair, G. Huntley, Campbell, S. R. White and C. G. Hinchcliffe.
