SCOUTING AFFAIRS

Last week-end members of the Oamaru Rover .Crew camped at Waianakarua D.S.M. Kinder visited Waimate and has reported that arrangements are well in hand for the combined camp at Kelcy’s Bush from January 11 to 18, when about 20 Scouts from Si. Paul's. Columba, St. Luke’s, Highland and Weston troops will represent North Otago. If there is sufficient support a special bus will run from Oamaru to convey parents of Scouts and friends to the camp on visitor’s day, January 15. Those wishing to make the trip are asked to communicate with D.S.M. Kinder before December 23. Subscribers to the English journal, Scouter, are reminded to forward their subscriptions to Dominion headquarters, Wellington, immediately. The official New Zealand jamboree party of 25 landed at Sydney last Monday, and in addition to the official party, 15 Scouters. 24 Scouts, and 13 Lady Cubmasters are travelling independently by aircraft. The official party is camped at Pennant Hills training camp, just out of Sydney, and will remain there until December 26, when they will leave by special train for Melbourne. The Sydney address is New Zealand Jamboree Contingent, care of Boy Scouts Association, 38-44 Carrington street, Sydney, and the Melbourne address will be New Zealand Jamboree Contingent, Boy Scout Jamboree, Melbourne. Lone Scouts and Cubs who intend to be present at the parade at Wilson Park at 6.30 on the evening of the visit of the Chief Scout, Lord Rowallan, on January 31, are asked to advise Commissioner W. H. S. Widdowson, Box 2, Oamaru. immediately. Lone Guides and Brownies, and ministers of all churches, are also invited to be present. The next district meeting will be held on January 12.
