APPRENTICESHIP ORDER FA WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. The New Zealand Motor ■lndustry Apprenticeship Order has been amended by the Court of Arbitration to allow apprentices to attend technical classes in their normal working hours in cases in which the apprentice lives within convenient distance of the school. The New Zealand Motor Trade Apprenticeship Committee must be satisfied that the school can provide during normal working hours instruction on a syllabus prescribed by the New Zealand Motor Trade Certification Board.

The committee may order an apprentice to attend school during the three years of his apprenticeship for four continuous hours of instruction in each week. Where the apprentice is not living or working within a convenient distance of the school, the committee mav order him to attend an approved school during the three years of his apprenticeship for not more than four weeks in the year. Provision is also made in certain circumstances for attendance at evening classes or correspondence courses in motor theory.
