CARISBROOK IN STRONG POSITION Kaikorai collapsed against the spin bowling of R Carter, supported by the fast-medium deliveries of J. Valentine, in the match against Carisbrook at Logan Park and the whole side was disposed of soon after lunch for 81 runs. Carter was in excellent form and took five wickets for 43 runs, Valentine’s figures being three for 29. The only Kaikorai batsman who attacked the bowling with anv degree of vigour was N. Hughes, one 'bf the “ tail-enders,” who hit hard on the off-side and scored 16 in quick time G. McGregor and L. Stewart each made 17, and McGregor was just getting into his stride when he was bowled by Valentine after lunch. Carisbrook put together the respectable total of 191, the way for which was laved by T C. Fraser and H. R. Cameron n a partnership which added 66 for the ■eeond wicket. Fraser batted soundly for « including two 4’s, before he ran out » hit a full toss from J Ferguson missed mid was stumped when the ball rebounded sff the wicketkeeper’s pads. Cameron ’ aved attractively for 32 which included Four 4’s and T. Minihan. the ex-Hutt Valley player, settled down after a shaky -tart to make 25. One of the later batsmen A. Fleury, batted solidly for 30, and Sorter was unbeaten with 16, made in muck time. Stanley, who captured five
