MODERATE TOTALS

MATCH AT NORTH GROUND No distinct advantage was gained by either side in the match at the North Ground between Grange and North-East Valley, but Grange, with 70 runs to score to pass its opponent's first innings total of 186 and with six wickets in hand, seems to have the more favourable chance o* a win. The play was rather tedious and would have been worse if B. Walsh had not batted as exuberantly as he did during a stay of little more than half an hour at the wicket. He took risks, in ro way impairing his confidence howover and he scored 56, including one 6 and six 4’s. Most of his team-mates gave ty-ical first-of-season displays, altnough revealing an occasional glimpse of better For Grange, A. M. Molr hit the ball cleanly to make 43 runs, among which were two 6’s and five 4’s.
