MUSIC FESTIVAL
COMBINED BAPTIST CHOIRS Under the baton of Mr G. T. Austin, the combined Baptist Church choirs presented a musical festival in the Hanover Street Baptist Church on Saturday night. The festival was part of the annual assembly of the Baptist Union of New Zealand which is at present being held in Dunedin. Anthems were sung by the choirs and solos were sung by Misses R. Shrimpton, N. McAllum, Mr W. G. Hilliker and the Rev. J. T. Crozier. Piano solos were played by Mr R. Windsor and violin solos by Miss J. Williams. The organist was Miss Gladwys Syder. On Saturday afternoon, visiting delegates to the assembly were driven through the Town Belt to the Ross Creek reservoir, where the Rev. T. M. Bamber conducted a service. Mr Bamber is the guest of the assembly from London. Earlier in the day, through the courtesy of the Mayor. Sir Donald Cameron, Mr and Mrs Bamber were conducted on a tour of the city. There were about 500 delegates and friends at the service at Ross Creek. Before the musical festival on Saturday night, the delegates were shown films of the province’s centennial celebrations by Mr Hendry in the Hanover Street Baptist Hall.
