B GRADE MARCHING
SUBURBAN COMPETITION WIN FOR MOSGIEL TEAM With a fine display of marching, the Mosgiel Woollen Mills team won the first B Grade competition held by the Dunedin Suburban Marching Association at Mosgiel on Saturday. Miss Audrey Grey, of the winning team, was adjudged the best leader. Mr J. Stewart, president of the Otago Association, said that Otago and Southland were the only districts in the New Zealand Association which held B Grade competitions.' The object, he said, was to give the teams confidence before the Otago championships. Teams remained in the B Grade for their first season only. In addition to the teams competing, demonstrations were given by teams from Balclutha (2), St. John’s. Brown, Ewing’s (2), Blair Athol, St. Kilda , Band and Aotea. Results:— , , „ Mosgiel Woollen) Mills (297 J points) 1, Wakari (288 ) 2. McMurray’s (284) 3, Glen Dawn (277 J) 4, Maybelle (269) 5, Alexandra (262) 6. Winners receive shield presented by Mosgiel Woollen Mills. The leaders’ competition for. a challenge cup presented by the Mosgiel Woollen Mills resulted:— Mosgiel (Miss Audrey Grey) 1, Wakari 1. Alexandra 3, Glen Dawn. Maybelle and McMurray’s (equal) 4. Music was supplied by the Mosgiel Municipal Band and the Taieri Pipe Band.
