CANTERBURY TEAM LOSES TO WANGANUI P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 11. The Wanganui Rugby team beat Canterbury by 22 points to 8 in a fast game at Lancaster Park to-day. Twelve of Canterbury’s regular representatives were playing in the All Black trials at Westport. The Wanganui forwards averaged a. stone a man heavier than the Canterbury eight, and controlled the scrums so effectively that the backs were given almost unlimited possession of the ball. It was not until well on in the second spell, however,, that the light Canterbury forwards felt the strain. When the opposition weakened Wanganui put on brilliant passing rushes, in which the backs and forwards took part. Wanganui’s score came from two converted tries, three tries and a penalty goal Canterbury s score was a converted try and a penalty goal.
