RECORD ENTRIES
NATIONAL CAGE BIRD SHOW Record entries have been received for the New Zealand Cage Bird Show, which will commence to-day in the St. Kilda Town Hall. Birds from mosl of the clubs in the North Island, as well as from centres nearer at hand, have been arriving within the last few days, the total reaching almost 1100. Foreign birds such as plumheads, bowerbirds. gouldians, bloodflnches, starfincbes, diamond doves, and many varieties of parrots will be seen, as well as champion canaries, budgerigars, and British birds and hybrids from many parts of New Zealand. A feature of the show will be a large aviary with many kinds of birds flying in comparative freedom.
Although the North Island entrants flew down—by National Airways service and not under their own power—this should in no way prejudice their chances against the local competitors Most of the delegates to the national conference, which commences to-mor-tow night, have also arrived in Dunedin.
