“ABNORMAL SITUATION”
POLICE LIAISON OFFICERS IN BERLIN RUSSIAN DEPUTY’S PROTEST N.Z.P.A.—Copyright Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, May 26. Protesting at .last night’s meeting of the Berlin deputy commanders at the action of the British, French, and United States Military Governments in sending liaison officers to the Berlin police headquarters in the Soviet sector, Colonel Yelisarov, the Russian deputy, said that it had created an abnormal situation which might have to be “ liquidated ” as it was a violation of the peace order of the Soviet sector me" United States representative, Colonel Babcock, retorted that the United States Military Government would send liaison officers into any building under quadripartite control where liaison was needed. The British representative, Brigadier Benson, said he would have to consult his legal advisers on the position created by Colonel Yelisarov s statement.
