RABBI’S APPEAL FOR HOLY CITY

Rec. 11 p.m. LONDON, May 24. The Arab Legion army investing the Holy City is paid for wholly by the British Government and is commanded by British officers, says the Chief Rabbi of Palestine, Dr Isaac Herzog, in a telegram published in The Times. “ This army for the past week has bombarded Jerusalem with British guns, British shells damaging or destroying churches, convents, synagogues, hospitals and monasteries. His assurance followed ar. Irgun demand for the expulsion of correspondents on the ground that they were spies.
