RELEASED BY RUSSIANS
BRITISH-CONTROLLED BARGES
NEW DOCUMENTS DEMANDED Rec. 8 p.m. BERLIN, Apl. 24.
The Russians released the Britishcontrolled barges which have been held up at Wittenberge, the Russian check point on the Elbe, since April 20. The Soviet authorities told the barge skippers not to re-enter the Soviet zone without obtaining new documents. A British spokesman' announced that it was unlikely that water traffic through the Soviet zone would be renewed until the position was further clarified. The British authorities had no information about the new documents which the Russians required.
