TRAIN DERAILED
COLLISION WITH COW A collision with a cow, which, unfortunately, chose the railway track for its wanderings, derailed the leading wheels of the locomotive of the passenger train which left Dunedin for Central Otago at 10 p.m. on Thursday. The accident happened at Kokonga, and delayed the train for two hours. The engine of the Dunedin-bound express arrived from Waipiata and assisted in replacing the derailed locomotive on the line. The train reached Alexandra at 8 a.m. on Friday. The cow was cut in half by the impact.
