NOVEL QUARTERS
Members of the Wellington Police Highland Pipe Band have the best quarters of any of the visiting bands. Two of the pipers, whom a Daily Times reporter found at home last evening, were quite definite about it. They are stationed in the Police barracks behind the Central Police Station, and their dormitory was formerly the billiard room. Now 19 beds occupy the room, and the advantages of this arrangement,. which were pointed out to the reporter, seemed to be endless. Number one was the fact that performances could be discussed and errors corrected most easily when all the players were together. For the benefit of those attending the contest at Carisbrook, the pipers of this band wear the McLean of Duart tartan while the drummers wear the Royal Stewart tartan.
