GRANGE SUCCEEDS

AN OUTRIGHT VICTORY Against the steady attack of T. G. Lemin and I. W. Payne, AlbionY.M.C.A. collapsed in the first innings of the match against Grange at Logan Park. In reply to Grange’s total of 195, Albion, which had lost six for 53 on the previous Saturday, was all out for 79. Lemin finishing with five wickets for 19 runs, while Payne captured two for 11. Following on, Albion-Y.M.C.A. made an excellent recovery, largely as the result of E. Watson’s 69, which included seven 4’s. H. Skinner and Watson added 48 for the eighth wicket, Skinner going on to make 28 by sound batting. S. Duncan batted nicely for 30, not out. Albion’s innings closed for 158, Lemin again being the most successful bowler for Grange with three wickets for 30 runs. Grangehad 35 minutes to get the 43 runs required for outright victory, and although five wickets fell, the winning hit was made with six minutes to spare. For Albion, E. Watson obtained three wickets at a cost of 17 runs. H. Skinner, the Albion-Y.M.C.A. wicketkeeper, stumped three batsmen and also took a good catch, while in the first innings he brought off two stumpings.
