BURSARY BONDS
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WITHDRAWAL APPLAUDED Satisfaction that its representations had resulted in the cancellation of educational bursary bonds signed by returned servicemen university students was expressed by the executive committee of the Dunedin R.S.A. at its meeting last night. The president, Mr M. S. Myers, said that although the discussion of the matter by Parliament had revealed a lamentable lack of knowledge of the subject on both sides of the House, the case that had been put forward by the association, and the publicity that backed it, had had the result of the bonds being withdrawn by the Minister of Rehabilitation. After other speakers had expressed similar opinions, the executive decided to write to the Rehabilitation Board expressing its pleasure that the bonds had been withdrawn. It was also decided to send a similar letter to the Dunedin Rehabilitation Committee. Appreciation of the representations made by the R.S.A. was expressed in a letter from the president of the Canterbury University College Returned Services Club. Mr I. Hattrick-Smith. He, stated that all the ex-servicemen at the college were grateful to the association.
