Dominions' Flags Raised in London

Rec. 7 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 15. Thousands of Londoners crowded the pavements at Aldwych to-day, causing the police to divert traffic as the new Indian flag was raised at India House. The Pakistan flag was raised at Lancashire House, near Buckingham Palace, which the British Government loaned to Pakistan for the day. Mr A. V. Alexander, Mr Herbert Morrison, and Sir Eric Mechtig, Permanent Under-secretary of Commonwealth Relations, represented the British Government at both ceremonies, which were also attended by members of the foreign and dominions’' diplomatic corps. Indians in turbans or Congress hats and women in bright robes provided colourful scenes. Mr W. J. Jordan attended the ceremonies of unfurling the flags of. the Dominions of Indtsi and Pakistan. On behalf of the New Zealand Governmet, he expressed to both high commissioners the cordial good wishes of the people of for the dominions' prosperity.
