WAKARI BUS SERVICE
Sir,—Many correspondents appear to overlook the fact that there is a higher authority in transport matters than Mr Greig—the Transport Committee. Most or all of the negotiating in regard to the Wakari services appears to have been done through Cr McCrae, and the statements in the press have been made by him. Thus it would appear that the (dis) service supplied lately has been worked out by him. There appears to be a lack of liaison between the Transport committee (or Cr McCrae) and the transport engineer-manager, who suffers much criticism which apparently belongs elsewhere. It would appear that in the criticism of transport matters in Dunedin there is a sad lack of fair play. Mr Greig came here as a stranger and took over an almost down-and-out service, and has had nothing but brickbats since taking over. Is it not time that critics gave him a rest and expended their energies in placing the blame where it is due. —I am, etc., Decency.
