Pakuranga Events The Pakuranga Hunt Cup resulted in an easy victory for the third fancy, Fox Hunting, who led throughout and had r.o serious challenges at the finish. Master Ted, 2/2 In the betting, won the Jellicoe Handicap in a photo finish with Tiger Tan and Royal Charter. It was a great tussle over the last furlong and Master Ted just won. Barrier Stalls Considerable interest was manifested in the barrier stalls which were used for the first time at Ellerslie on Saturday in the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase and in the Jellicoe Handicap. The starts were both good, and owners, trainers, jockeys and officials were of the opinion that the stalls were an improvement, obviating crowding at the barrier and giving the horses a cleaner getaway. If there are any faults in the stalls, they were not apparent on Saturday. No Immediate Racing Lady Foxbridge, who changed ownership for 5000gns recently, is not being hurried in her preparation at Trentham, and she has built up appreciably since her arrival. It is understood that she will not race until well into the new season. Ceremonious Although he has plenty of staying blood on his side, Ceremonious has definitely shown that sprinting is his forte. He has a beautiful action, and there are few smarter beginners in commission, so it would not surprise if a major sprint fell to him this term. Bred to Win Demonic has plenty to commend him on the score of breeding, for he is by the successful Dominion-bred sire Defaulter and from Gay Helen, who is by Iliad from Praise, the last-named being the dam of outstanding distance performers in Serenata, Regal Praise and Representative. It is therefore not surprising to find him revealing definite signs of stamina in his ‘races, and he certainly appeals as a colt with claims to Derby honours this term.
