TROTTING NOTES

By Eclipse Aueust 23 Thames T.C. August 23, 30 .. .. Metropolitan T.C. August 30 Waikato T.C. Jottings Withdrawals for the first day of the Metropolitan meeting are due on Monday. The double-gaited Toushay will be raced as a trotter at Addington next Satuiday. _ Fit and well, Mistydale is capable of finishing in a place in the Stewards' Handicap at Addington next Saturday. Speedy But Erratic Golden Amazon’s chance to win from his present mark is entirely dependent on his ability to keep to a level gait. Still Well Placed Jason’s Quest is still on* a good mark, and there will be plenty of opportunities for him this season. He is engaged at Addington next week. Dlllondale Since going into R. Hamilton’s stable, Dillondale has been raced six times and filled five places The Sandydale gelding has developed into a reliable pacer, and from the mark he is on he should be a good prospect for the new season. A Strong Bracket If Nyallo Scott and Highland Fling go to the post for the Winter Handicap at Addington, the public will have little difficulty in locating the favourite Task Not Easy Come Away, who was unplaced in his two starts last season, is now being trained at Papanui by A. McKenzie. He will be giving starts to some smart improvers in the Islington Handicap next Saturday, and will not find his task an easy one. A Good Record Checkmate had a particularly good record last season, and in only one of his seven starts he was unplaced. He came well into the limelight by wining his last four races in a row, and left the impression that he would step his way much further back in the assessments. He should be among the new season’s best performers. Kildonnin In 13 starts last season Kildonnin won one race and was placed in two others, his win being scored at the Forbury Park meeting in January. He did not show anything like the consistency in the previous season, when he was started seven times for five wins and two seconds, but if P Gallagher gets him back to his best form he will collect further wins.
