MOLTEN GLASS FLOWS INTO STREET

Rec. 1130 p.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 15. After having apparently been extinguished early this morning, the spectacular blaze broke out again some hours later and burned fiercely for another hour. The burning store, packed with dried skins, generated such heat that molten glass from the windows flowed into the strept. Cattle and sheep were removed to safety as the flames licked their pens. The fire was watched by crowds in the heavy rain and hail while the firemen fought successfully to prevent the flames from spreading across a narrow lane to a tallow store. A strong westerly wind aided the firemen to save timber stacks apd a refrigeration plant. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO.
