Mr Jinnah Expresses Gratitude to Britain For Creation of Pakistan
Rec. 8 p.m KARACHI, Aug. 13. Mr Jinnah proposed the toast of “ His Majesty ” at the State dinner in honour of Lord and Lady Mountbatten, who have reached Karachi to participate in Pakistan’s birth of a nation celebrations. Mr Jinnah said Pakistan would endeavour to maintain goodwill and friendship with Britain, India and the other Dominions. The creation of Pakistan was the fulfilment of the Commonwealth ideal of making all nations which formed the British Empire independent States, free from domination. Referring to Britain’s transfer of power, Mr Jinnah said that such voluntary and absolute traiisfer of rule was previously unknown in world history. He complimented Lord Mountbatten on the grace, dignity and ability with which he had fulfilled the task. Mr Jinnah also expressed deep appreciation of Mr Attlee’s work for the independence of the Indians.
