HONOLULU CONFERENCE OFFICIALS TO ATTEND P.A. WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. At an executive meeting of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union to-day, the national president, Mr H. Barnes, confirmed that with the national secretary, Mr T. Hill, he would attend the conference at Honolulu of waterfront organisations of Pacific countries. He denied that a hitch had developed over the conference arrangements. . The union desire, it was ascertained, from other quarters, is that the conference should be held not later than August 31. The (executive of the Australian Waterside Workers’ Federation and the New Zealand Waterside, Workers’ Union requested this “because of the immediate necessity of improving working conditions associated with the shipping industry and the need to establish uniformity of policy in relation to improvements required following the cessation of hostilities.’’
