The monthly meeting of the NorthEast Valley branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held last Thursday. It took the form of “An Information Bureau," readings from various sources being given by some members. Included was a brief report of the recent conference of the National Council of Women, with extracts from an address by Archbishop Averill. Another reading dealt wtih films, and stated that, in spite of the warning in the advertisements that certain films were not suitable for children, many children were admitted to the theatres. An extract from the findings of the Presbyterian Synod on the abuse of alcohol was read, and also facts culled from many countries on the results of alcohol drinking. A brief discussion followed the reading of each article.
