PLAN FOR EXPANSION

LABOUR PARTY IN BRITAIN MINERS CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS EXPENSE Rec. 9.30 p.m. LONDON, May 26. The Labour correspondent of The Times at Margate says that the 1250 delegates to the annual conference of the Labour Party have carried through the traditional preliminaries and are ready for the opening to-day. Groups of delegates interested in motions on similar subjects have met and as a result a large proportion of the original 500 motions disappeared in favour of 24 composite ones. Apart from the economic crisis, the subject on which there has been most discussion is the National Executive’s plan for the party’s development and finance which is to be put before a private session of the conference tomorrow. This proposes a great extension of the party’s publicity organisation To help to meet the cost, a levy of Is a head has been suggested Already the miners have decided to contribute £20.000 immediately. It is also intended greatly to increase the number of full-time election agents and otherwise extend the party's machinery.
