TARANAKI SUFFERS
SOUTH-EASTERLY . STORM p A NEW PLYMOUTH. Apl. 15. A gale which swept over Taranaki early this morning from the south-east uprooted trees, brought down power lines, flattened fences and sheds, blew out windows, and did general damage to gardens. It was accompanied by driving rain. The maximum velocity of the gale was 81 miles an hour. Temperatures fell from 62deg at 6 p.m. yesterday to 50deg at 9.30 to-day. Telephone communication was lost but was later l’estored.
