FLEECE VALUES EXCEEDED DEMAND FOR NECKS AND PIECES P A INVERCARGILL, Apl. 15. Necks, pieces, bellies and locks sold exceptionally well at the third and final Invercargill wool sale of the season, held to-day. Ima few cases, prices for this type of wool exceeded the values received for the actual clips. The total offering was 20,217 bales, including a large proportion of new season’s greasy wool. The official report issued by the Invercargill Woolbrokers’ Association, in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the Wool Disposal Commission, states: The offering comprised many late shorn wools, a proportion showing a tenderness and discoloration because of the climatic conditions. Seedy wools were in evidence. Competition was keen and well spread, and there was a good demand for fleece wools. Necks, bellies, pieces and crutchings sold particularly well with keen Continental and Bradford competition Following is the official range of prices:— Southdown 58/60: Good to super, 28d to 30d; average, 25Jd to 273 d; inferior, 18d to 24d. Fine halfbred 56/58: Average, 27id to 29£d: inferior, 20d to 22d. Three-quarterbred 50/56: Good to super, 23d to 24id; average, 21d to 22£d', inferior, 17$d to 20d. 50’s: Good to super, 20d to 21d. 48/50's: Average, i7Jd to 183 d; inferior. 16Jd to 17Jd. Medium crossbred 46/50: Good to super, 17£d to 18$d. 48’s: Average, 17d to 18d. 46/48’s: Inferior, 14d to 16d Lambs 50’s: Average, 20d to 22d; inferior, 16d to 17$d. 48’s: Good up to 263 d; average, 19£d to 21£d; inferior and seedy, 14d to 16a. Pieces Fine crossbred or three-quarterbred: Good to super. 16d to 173 d; average, 14Jd to 15d; inferior and seedy, lOd to 13d. Bellies Crossbred: Good to super, 14d to 16d; average, 12£d to 133 d; inferior and seedy. 9£d to 12d. Crutchings Three-quarterbred or fine crossbred: Good to super, 16d to 19d; average, 13d to 15d: inferior and seedy, lOd to 12£d. Locks Crossbred, 6d to 9£d
