FIFTH WOOL SALE
21,923 BALES ON OFFER FIXTURE NEXT SATURDAY A total offering of 21,923 bales of wool will be presented to buyers at the fifth sale of the Dunedin season, which will begin in Burns Hall at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning. The original date for this sale was Monday. April 21, but this was altered some time ago to Friday, April 18, and then finally amended to Saturday, April 19. The presentation of such a full catalogue reflects the special effort which the Dunedin brokers have made since the last sale to prepare as much wool as possible. Work was continued through the Easter period, and their efforts have resulted in the inclusion in this catalogue of a fair quantity of wool which otherwise would have been held over until the clearing-up sale. The catalogue includes a good proportion of late-shorn wool—straggler wool from the high country—which has come into store in the past few weeks. The lateness of the season is indicated in the quantity of cotted wool and the fact that a number of clips show dry yoke. It has been a difficult season because of the neardrought conditions, which have been general, but it is considered that the offering is of a quality to maintain the interest of buyers. The offering is representative of the whole of Otago, and the general getup is attractive, particularly in view of the short time that has been available for classing and routine store work. The order of the sale and the individual firms’ catalogues are as follows: Bales. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd 5.600 Dalgety and Co., Ltd. .. 3,983 Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd .. •• 195 National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd. .. 5,061 Donald Reid and Co., Ltd. 3,685 Otago Fanners’ tive Association of New Zealand, Ltd 1.857 New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd 1.542 Total 21.923
