PUBLIC SERVANTS

STRIKES TO BE OUTLAWED NEW YORK, Mar. 14. Governor Dewey, risking his political .future, will sign a Bill which passed both Houses outlawing strikes by public employees in New York State, says the Albany correspondent of the American Associated Press. The measure forbids public employees penalty of automatic dismissal, and if afterwards reinstated, they would receive no salary increase for three years, and suffer the loss of security .rights for five years, during which period they could be discharged summarily. The Bill has been fiercely opposed by civil service employees’ organisations and by organised labour. The measure is the outcome of a recent strike by public school teachers in Buffalo. Governor Dewey himself asked for its introduction.
