PEACE FEELERS
VIET NAM GOVERNMENT LQSING STRENGTH IN FIELD (Rec. 9-30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 31. The Viet Nam Government continues to broadcast peace feelers, says the Paris correspondent of The 'Times. It speaks in one broadcast of an exchange of messages between M. Blum and the President, Ho Chi Ninh, in which M. Blum took the initiative by informing Minh that the object of M. Moutet’s Indo-China mission was “to restore the situation in Indo-China on the basis of the French-Viet Nam agreement.” Another Viet Nam broadcast said M. Moutet had been invited to Hanoi for talks. All this, is denied in French official quarters, says the correspondent, but broadcasts have occurred and must be indicative of the state of mind among the Viet Nam leaders. Meanwhile, the military news is that, while the Viet Nam Government is weakening in the field, it still maintains its hold and cohesion.
