WOMEN’S CLUB

The poetry circle of (he Otago'Women’s Club held its annual meeting last Tuesday. when the following office-bearers were appointed'—Chairwoman. Mrs M. Roberts; vice-chairwoman. Mrs V. Wilkin; secretary, Mrs M. Begg; committee—Mesdamrs Brodie and White. Misses Bowling and Hay. After the annual meeting Mrs Brodie read a paper on " Scottish Women Poets." Jean Elliott, Lady Anne Lindsay. Violet Jacob, Jean Adam, and Christian Curr, were some of the women mentioned by Mrs Brodie. The following poems were read; "Queen’s Shares," by Mrs Roberts; " Chateau do Monthiers,” Mrs Wilkin: " The Princess of Scotland," Mrs Begg; " The Lady of the Thistle," Miss Bowling: " From the Virgins,” Miss Crow; " The Bells,” Mrs White; “ The Lads with the Kilt." Mrs Hamer; ” Auld Robin Gray," Mrs Cowie; ” Semitones," Miss Rolio; “ The Song of Welcome," Mrs Brodie: and " Homesickness," Miss Ross.
